2023 Plant Futures Symposium - Day 2 Recap
Day 2 of the 2023 Plant Futures Symposium was filled with thought-provoking discussions and so many informative presentations. Today’s theme of “Solutions” built upon the knowledge shared yesterday (Day 1: Framing) and helped inspire attendees on how they can confront challenges and take measurable steps to support the future of plant-based systems.
The day started with a keynote address from renowned chef and founder of Wholesome Crave, Michel Nischan. Today he shared with us his inspiring journey to the world of plant-based food and how he became an innovator to address challenges he noticed in the world of food. Later, the day featured presentations and panel discussions with experts from a wide range of fields, including chefs, industry leaders, academics, and more!
Sessions today included “Effective Climate Impact through Food Choices,” “Alternative Proteins: Current and Future Trends,” and “Venture Capital Perspective: Investing in Plant-Based Food.” The discussions covered topics such as the latest research and development in the field, the role of technology in driving change, and the importance of stakeholder engagement in shaping the future of the industry.
Throughout the day, breaks and networking opportunities allowed attendees to develop deeper connections and brought up rich discussions about each of our role in shaping the future of plant-based systems. The symposium provided a unique platform for attendees to share their experiences and insights, and to learn from one another. Attendees also had the chance to network with industry leaders, professionals, and innovators to learn more about future opportunities in their unique fields.
The final day of the Plant Futures Symposium was a fitting conclusion to the weekend of insightful content. This year, the symposium was inspired by the quote from Mr. Rogers "look for the helpers, you will always find people who are helping,” and speakers today encouraged us all to stay engaged, look for helpers, become helpers, and work together to address the challenges facing our planet.
A big thank you to all the attendees, speakers, sponsors, donors, and the whole Plant Futures team for an amazing, thought-provoking, and inspiring weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone again for the 2024 Plant Futures Symposium!
